We have been fabricating display framework for exhibits at the London Transport Museum for quite a few years now. Some consist of simple steel table frames whilst others become more complicated and structural. These two were recently installed at the end of 2015). The larger piece is supporting a ‘Baker Street’ train indicator from the 1920’s that I also helped assemble with the curatorial team. It was in many pieces, having been removed from the station in 1994 – so it became a huge puzzle.
The Transport Museum depot in Acton is one of the best places in London to visit, with an amazingly varied and bulging collection. Tours and open days can be booked here.
