This large public artwork was created for Pippa Hale and is permanently installed outside the Playhouse Theatre in Leeds. It was an incredibly technical piece to made due to the size and structural requirements. It is completely made from weathering steel and is based upon a scale maquette supplied by Pippa. This was then converted to CAD to produce an initial set of drawings that were lasercut and initially rolled. We then tweaked them further before welding them to become individual long ribbons. Everything was 3D scanned and ‘built’ in CAD so it could be structurally tested before it finally went together in real life on site.
